Last Friday, we were in Shinjuku destroying some faces with new associates Zarigani Dollar. They rock pretty hard, so if you live in Tokyo and have the opportunity to see them live, we highly recommend that you do so.
The sound quality is pretty awful, but this video is rather amazing.
Slightly more on topic, thesixtyone member puntspeedchunk has seen fit to create a fan podcast for the website, and seeing as that he happens to live in Tokyo and we happen to play in Tokyo every so often, we, your humble hosts, have been featured on the inaugural episode as interviewees. He tracked us down at Yaneura in Shibuya this weekend and squeezed some nonsense out of myself and Daisuke. He also brought along a photographer friend, so there will be photos later. Photos! Here is the feed url for the podcast: http://feeds.feedburner.com/libsyn/aSnO You can hear our discombobulated jibber-jabbering at around the thirty minute mark. Open it in iTunes or your RSS reader of choice and bask in our collective shame.
In a continuation of our Concerts Near Various Large Bodies of Water - Well, Mostly Just the Pacific Ocean series, this Saturday at noon, Hidari and friends will be playing at Kobe’s Meriken Park for the Kobe Biennale ‘07 festival.
Those in Tokyo might be interested in this. On November 24th and 25th, Bad News Records is putting on their yearly Shibuya Heart Attack show/festival/shit-ton of bands playing on the same day in the same general area/event thing. For ¥3500, you get a three day pass (there’s something going on on Monday, the 26th as well, but I’ll be damned if I can figure out what) and access to four simultaneous gigs in Shibuya on each day, as well as a 2-CD sampler chock-full of songs from the various acts that will be performing. Tickets can be found at the HMV, Tower Records, and Tsutaya in Shibuya, as well as from High Line Records or directly from the bands themselves.
We are just playing six shows in eight days. I suggested we retroactively label it such (”Hidari’s Accidental Tour” or the like), but nobody seemed to go for it. We set out tomorrow at noon for the land known as Nagoya, then work our way back to Kobe via Osaka, bounce between the two cities for a while, jump over to Tokyo for a change of scenery, then resume alternating between Kobe and the big O. Hopefully we will not burst into flames from the atmospheric friction. We will be wearing ceramic undergarments for added protection.
This Monday, we played at Thunderbaum’s record release show. It featured a veritable who’s who of local underground bands, a guest appearance by a masked drummer, a headbanging reindeer, and somebody lost a tooth. The general consensus was that it was a resounding success.
