A surfeit of videos

(A surfeit is also, amusingly, the collective noun for skunks.)

My girlfriend Atsuko has posted several short clips she’s taken on her digital camera under the nom de plume of fromkobetoyou on YouTube. Mostly they capture odd live situations (which inevitably occur whenever we venture forth from our secret mountain base to distribute joy and candy to the masses).

My personal favorite is this one, of a young lady whose name has long since been lost in the nether regions of my leaky skull. I had a good chat with her and her father and learned that not only is she a highly skilled dancer, as can be seen below, but she is completely fluent in both Japanese and English, as her father is from Britain. Would that I could say the same…

Fan (?) Video

Somebody found and posted this over at the Japanese BBS:

Flung into the gaping maw of J-Pop

We’ve played some strange shows in our day and been booked with bands that were odd choices on the promoter’s part (to say the least), but this probably trumps them all:

Yes, next Friday we’re going to be opening for a generic female pop group. It gets better, though, because these chumps are going to be there too:

We were only called a few days ago so it’s a pretty last minute thing. I suspect they were having trouble finding an opener, and since all of our groups could perhaps loosely be defined as “Electro-Pop” (albeit on opposite ends of the spectrum), I guess they decided we would fit the bill. We’re playing in Tokyo the day before so we’re going to be pretty trashed by the time we get there, but this is too goofy to pass up. At the very least, there should be a lot of people there.
